Which sentence is more formal?
哪个句子更加书面一点?

A: The student council requested that more lockers be installed ASAP to accommodate the new students.
B: The student council requested that more lockers be installed immediately to accommodate the new students.

Solution:

The answer is the B.
B 句子更书面一点。

The first sentence (A) is less formal. You can tell because it uses abbreviated
language (ASAP).
第一个句子(A)更加不正式,因为它运用了简写: ASAP.
The second sentence (B) does not use abbreviated language, so it is more formal.
第二个句子(B)没有运用简写,所以比较正式。
 
 
Formal writing is used for essays, business letters, and reports. The following types of informal language should be avoided in formal writing:
书面写作一般运用于论文,商业书信和报告。下面是一些在写作中需要被避免的非书面性表达。

Contractions are not as informal as the other types, but they should be used sparingly in formal writing.

Compare the following sentences. The first is informal. The second is formal.

Informal: Yeah, ostriches can't fly, but they're awesome runners.
