Both are taught at the Greenwich Campus over three years, with a four-year paid placement option and a foundation year version. The typical offer is 112 UCAS points plus a portfolio, with IELTS 6.0 and 5.5 in each skill. The University of Greenwich is in south-east London, with its main campus on the Thames at Greenwich. It has few art and design degrees: the School of Design and Creative Industries runs Graphic and Digital Design and Animation. This guide covers September 2027 entry using the university's own website, for students at high schools in China, students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver) and transfer students.

1. Courses

  • Graphic and Digital Design, BA (Hons), UCAS code W210, institution code G. Three years full time or four years sandwich, plus a version with a foundation year. It covers typography and graphic design, branding and advertising, fine art, photography, data visualisation and moving image, with specialist areas in branding and advertising, fine art, information and interaction design, data visualisation and moving image.
  • Animation, BA (Hons), UCAS code GW42, institution code G. Three years full time or four years sandwich, plus a version with a foundation year. No prior knowledge of animation practice is required.

Both are at the Greenwich Campus and start in September; international students can study full time. The sandwich year sits between the second and final years and lasts 9–13 months in a paid role related to the degree. The school also runs Architecture and Landscape Architecture degrees, not covered here.

2. How to apply and deadlines

  • Route: course pages say applicants from outside the UK can apply through UCAS, directly on the university's website or through an in-country representative; students needing a visa can't study part time. The international applications page says undergraduates can apply through an official agency partner or through UCAS.
  • Deadline: the pages read don't give a deadline for 2027 entry. For UCAS applications check the UCAS date; for direct applications ask international@gre.ac.uk.
  • Greenwich sends an offer or conditional offer based on your documents. If you don't meet direct entry requirements, the University of Greenwich International College (UGIC) runs foundation courses.

3. Portfolio

  • Both courses say suitable applicants will be required to submit a portfolio.
  • For Animation, the portfolio should show your passion for storytelling and animation; no animation experience is needed.
  • The number of pieces, format and submission method aren't published; follow the university's instructions when contacted, or ask international admissions.

4. Entry requirements

Course pages also have a country-by-country entry requirements selector that loads after the page; this guide hasn't read it. The country pages say some courses may differ, so check the course page.

  • Tuition: the 2027/28 fee is listed as "to be confirmed"; for 2026/27 both courses charged international students £17,975 a year.
