Emory’s Department of Biology offers a BA and a BS: at least 11 biology courses (30 hours on the web page, 31 in the PDF), including BIOL 141/142 and labs, one course from each of three areas (cell and molecular, organismal, ecology and evolution), at least four electives and one upper-level lab; the BS also needs chemistry, physics, two semesters of calculus and statistics. Students must choose a major by the end of the second year. Early Decision I is November 1, Early Decision II and Regular Decision January 1, the fee is $75 and testing is optional. AP Biology at 4 or 5 exempts only the BIOL 141 lecture.

Emory’s Department of Chemistry offers a BA and a BS in chemistry in its Chemistry Unbound curriculum (in place since 2018), with the core CHEM 150, 202, 203, 204, 205, their labs and 300L; the BS can follow an ACS-certified pathway, and a biomolecular specialization is optional. Students must choose a major by the end of the second year, and research credit in chemistry is open only to chemistry majors. Early Decision I is November 1, Early Decision II and Regular Decision January 1, the fee is $75 and testing is optional. AP Chemistry at 4 or 5 and IB Chemistry HL at 5-7 earn CHEM 150.

Elon’s Department of Biology offers a Biology A.B.
