Common Registration Reminders

  • Once the deadline passes, there is usually no remedy. Hunan explicitly states no late Gaokao registration will be arranged. Xinjiang will not allow late registration for the arts unified exam after the deadline. Although Fujian has arranged a late registration period, it is only open to specific categories of candidates.
  • Registration and exam fees may be paid in two installments. In Hunan, the registration fee is paid during registration, and the exam fee is paid from April 12 to May 8, 2027; the admission ticket can only be printed after paying the exam fee. Jilin has a separate online payment window in November. Failure to pay on time will be treated as a waiver of the exam.
  • Arts and sports candidates need to take an extra step. Hunan, Fujian, and Xinjiang all require arts and sports candidates to separately complete the registration and payment for the professional unified exam. The timeline may differ from the academic subject registration, so keep track of both.
  • Bonus points and special care qualifications must be applied for during registration. Jilin requires that applications for bonus points and special care be submitted by the candidates themselves during registration; failure to apply will be considered a waiver. These candidates must also undergo qualification pre-review and bring original supporting documents for verification.
  • Check your ID card in advance. Hunan requires that the ID card must not expire before September 30, 2027, and reminds candidates not to change key information such as name or photo on the ID card between registration confirmation and university enrollment.
  • Current university students cannot register. Both Hunan and Fujian specify that current students with regular university status, or those who have been admitted and retained their enrollment qualifications, are not allowed to register.
  • Academic proficiency test scores affect registration eligibility. Several registration conditions in Xinjiang require passing scores in the provincial regular high school academic proficiency tests.
  • Rules for non-local hukou and migrant children are more detailed. Provinces have specific regulations regarding hukou duration, student registration, consecutive years of study, and parents' social security or residence permits, with significant variations. Check your province's official document to confirm which rules apply to you.

What to Do for Provinces That Haven't Announced Yet

As of October 4, we have not yet verified the 2027 registration documents for other provinces. In previous years, most provinces organized registration between October and November. We recommend the following:

  • Regularly check the official website and official social media accounts of your provincial education examination institute for the latest official announcements;
  • National summary tables shared online may contain outdated data from previous years. Always verify the dates against the original documents from the examination institute;
  • Prepare your ID card, household registration booklet, and student registration certificates in advance. Candidates with non-local hukou should consult their local examination institution as early as possible.

This article will be updated as more provincial documents are verified.
