NTU Requirements for Gaokao Applicants: Gaokao scores must reach 80% of the provincial total score; current high school seniors can apply using Grades 10 and 11 grades first and submit Gaokao scores within 3 days of release; English proficiency scores are required (IELTS 6.5, with 6.5 in Writing and Speaking); the application period for Fall 2027 admission is from October 15, 2026, to March 19, 2027.
The Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) admissions website outlines the requirements for applying to undergraduate programs using the Chinese Gaokao. NTU has only one intake per academic year, with the first semester typically starting in late July; the application period for the 2027 intake using the Gaokao (or current senior high school curriculum) is from October 15, 2026, to March 19, 2027, and it is not yet open as of October 11.
Academic Requirements (meet one of the following)
- Existing Gaokao scores: Must reach 80% of the total Gaokao score in the respective province, and submit a valid academic credential verification report (CSSD Verification Report) issued by CHSI.
- Current Grade 12 students awaiting Gaokao: Students with strong Grade 10 and Grade 11 grades can apply using their Grade 10 and Grade 11 transcripts before the Gaokao scores are released; Gaokao scores must be submitted within 3 days of their release, and late applications will not be processed. Eligible candidates will be invited for an interview in July, and final admission will be based on interview performance. These applicants cannot apply to the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) or the Renaissance Engineering Programme in this round.
- Did not take the Gaokao: Students who did not take the Gaokao but have excellent high school graduation grades can apply based on their graduation grades, subject to case-by-case evaluation. Students who followed the regular high school curriculum but did not take the Gaokao, or who took AP exams independently, also fall into this category.
Optional Supplementary Materials
- AST (Aptitude Scholastic Test): At least three subjects, including English, Mathematics, and one other subject; if the third subject is Economics, only non-engineering and non-science majors will be considered.
- AP: At least 5 subjects, with a score of 4 or 5 in each.
- Both AST and AP scores must be submitted together with the Gaokao scores or Grade 10 and Grade 11 transcripts; submissions without them will not be considered.
