CityU Hong Kong 2027 Gaokao Admissions: Applications Opened September 24, Close June 13, 2027

City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has published its 2027 admissions brochure for mainland China gaokao students: it admits gaokao students directly, outside the national unified allocation, selects on merit, and sets no minimum or maximum quota for any province. Applications opened on CityU's website on September 24, 2026.

Basic entry requirements

• Gaokao score: Excluding any bonus points, at least the first-tier university cut-off ("yiben line") or the special-type admission control line.
• English: 110 or above out of 150 in gaokao English.

Timeline

• September 24, 2026: Applications open (apply directly on CityU's website).
• Early June 2027: Gaokao exam.
• June 13, 2027: Application deadline.
• Late June 2027: Upload results after gaokao scores are released.
• Late June to early July 2027: Admission results.

Costs and scholarships

• Tuition: HK$240,000 per year for non-local students; HK$400,000 per year for the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine.
• Housing: University-managed residence about HK$20,800 per year (for reference only; see the Student Residence Office).
• Entrance scholarships: Three levels: full scholarship (renewable full tuition waiver plus living allowance), full tuition waiver, and half tuition waiver.

Programmes

The brochure lists undergraduate programmes across business, computing, engineering, science, humanities and social sciences, creative media, biomedical sciences and veterinary medicine. The BBA in Global Business offers a dual bachelor's degree with Columbia University in the U.S.

Advice for applicants and families

• CityU's direct admission does not affect your gaokao preference list, so you can apply before the exam and upload scores afterwards.
• 110 in English is the university-wide minimum; competitive programmes may admit at higher scores. Follow official updates.
• Tuition is about HK$240,000 a year; budget for housing and living costs too, and look into the scholarships.
