Ravensbourne University London is a London university offering creative courses in design, animation, games, film and more. This guide uses Ravensbourne's official website to cover its art and design degrees for students at high schools in China, students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver) and transfer students.

Note first: we read the undergraduate, applications, international, country requirements and fees pages. The site refused access when we opened the scholarships page, so we stopped, as our rules require. Individual course pages (UCAS course codes, grade and portfolio requirements) and the scholarships page were not read; check them on Ravensbourne's site.

1. Courses

  • Art and design degrees (BA (Hons), from the undergraduate course list): 3D Animation, Animation, Character Design and Concept Art, Games Art, Graphic Design, Illustration for Communication, Advertising and Brand Design, Interaction Design, Motion Design, Digital Photography, Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Product Design and Interior Architecture and Reuse; plus Architecture and Urban Landscape Architecture.
  • Integrated Foundation Year: the undergraduate page says most degrees can include an Integrated Foundation Year to ease you in and let you explore different subjects.
  • Length and UCAS course codes: listed on each course page, which we didn't read. Ravensbourne's UCAS institution code is R06.

2. How to apply and deadlines

  • International students: apply directly from your chosen course page at any time, or through UCAS with Ravensbourne as one of your choices.
  • UK students: apply through UCAS.
  • Deadlines: the applications page says applications received by the published deadline get equal consideration, and later applications are accepted but places may be limited on some courses; check UCAS and the course page for dates. It also says enrolment for September 2026 is closed and future intakes are open.
  • Documents: the online application asks for a personal statement and other documents; applicants under 18 need a parent or guardian's consent form and details of a UK-based guardian.
  • Steps: submit → confirmation and applicant portal login → admissions review of qualifications and personal statement → portfolio review or interview for courses that need one → offer → accept via UCAS (or the portal) → meet your conditions. If you need a visa, you upload documents on CAS Shield and pay the CAS deposit before Ravensbourne requests your CAS; offer holders who have accepted are usually invited to CAS Shield at least six months before the semester starts.

3. Portfolio and interview

  • Not every course: the applications page says not every course requires a portfolio or interview; for those that don't, you go straight to the offer stage.
  • Portfolio review courses: if you haven't shared it already, you'll be invited to share your portfolio, which a member of the course's academic team reviews.
  • Interviewing courses: eligible applicants get a link to book a time, and share their portfolio a few days before the interview.
  • Number of pieces and format: on each course page and in the portfolio guide, which we didn't read; check the course page.

4. Entry requirements

  • Course grades: UK requirements (A Levels, UCAS points) are on each course page, which we didn't read. Ravensbourne says it considers each application individually and may take other qualifications or work experience into account.

  • Ravensbourne English Language Test: only for offer holders whose offer is conditional on English; 6 overall with at least 5 in each component.
