Rothesay Netherwood School

Rothesay, New Brunswick · Day and boarding · Co-ed · Grades 6–12

Rothesay Netherwood School is a coeducational Grade 6–12 boarding and day school on a 125-acre campus in Rothesay, New Brunswick, near Saint John. Its roots go back to 1877, when Thompson's School opened (later Rothesay Collegiate School); in 1984 it combined with Netherwood, a girls' school founded in 1894. About 300 students attend, roughly half of them boarders, and about a quarter come from outside Canada. RNS is an IB World School offering 31 IB courses, with an average class size of 16, and runs an English as an Additional Language program. Admission has early (December 15) and regular (March 15) rounds followed by rolling review, and international students can apply for a Canadian study permit only after receiving an RNS letter of acceptance, so the school strongly recommends the early round.
