UQ Business School offers three main undergraduate degrees: the three-year Bachelor of Business Management, the three-year Bachelor of Commerce and the four-year Bachelor of Advanced Business (Honours). For Semester 1 2027, the Bachelor of Business Management accepts 70% of the Gaokao maximum and the Bachelor of Commerce 75%; the Advanced Business degree does not list the Gaokao and needs IB 38 or a BC average of 84.44. International students start on 22 February or 26 July 2027, with deadlines of 30 November 2026 and 31 May 2027. International tuition for 2027 is AUD 56,800 to 60,952 a year. Based on UQ’s official information, this guide covers entry, English, transfer, fees and a checklist.

The University of Queensland (UQ) is in Brisbane. Its undergraduate business degrees are offered by UQ Business School and taught at the St Lucia campus. Here is what you need to know for 2027 entry, based on UQ’s official information, for students at high schools in China, students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver students), and transfer students.

1. Three business degrees

  • Bachelor of Business Management: three years, program code 2171. Choose one or two of seven majors: Business Economics, Business Information Systems, Human Resources, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, International Business, Leadership and Management Science, and Marketing. Placements and consulting projects are available, and the Human Resources major is accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).
  • Bachelor of Commerce: three years, program code 2336, with majors in Accounting, Business Analytics, Business Information Systems and Finance. The Accounting major prepares you for membership of CA ANZ and CPA Australia.
  • Bachelor of Advanced Business (Honours): four years with embedded honours, program code 2139. UQ describes it as the Business School’s flagship program for high-achieving students, with two majors from six options or a research pathway.
  • The Bachelor of Business Management can also be taken in 17 dual programs, including law, engineering, computer science, science and communication.

2. Entry scores (Australian benchmarks)

These are the lowest adjusted scores offered for Semester 1 2026. They are updated each April, and meeting them does not guarantee admission:

  • Business Management: ATAR 72, IB 26.75. The intake was 563 students, including 343 international students (60.9%).
  • Commerce: ATAR 82, IB 31. The intake was 490, including 320 international students (65.3%).
  • Advanced Business (Honours): ATAR 94, IB 38. The intake was 231, with fewer than 5 international students.
  • Prerequisites: all three need Queensland Year 12 General English (Units 3 & 4, C). Maths differs: Business Management needs one of General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics; Commerce needs Mathematical Methods; Advanced Business needs Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics.

3. Students at high schools in China

  • Gaokao: assessed as a percentage of the maximum score possible in your province. For Semester 1 2027, Business Management needs 70% and Commerce 75%. The Advanced Business (Honours) requirements for China do not list the Gaokao, only A-levels, the IB, AP and SAT/ACT. The Business Management page states that a 60% pass in Gaokao Mathematics meets the maths prerequisite.
  • A-levels: the aggregate of your best 3 (or 2) A-levels, with A*=6, A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1 and AS levels counting half. Business Management needs 5.5, Commerce 10 and Advanced Business 13.5. The maths prerequisite is A/AS Level Mathematics, or GCSE/O Level Maths plus Additional Maths.
  • IB: 27.75 for Business Management, 32 for Commerce and 38 for Advanced Business.
  • AP (for students on international programs): the aggregate of 2 to 4 AP exams (on a 5-point scale) must be 10, 13 and 16 respectively. AP results must come directly from the College Board, together with evidence of a recognised school leaving certificate.
  • SAT/ACT: SAT 1000, 1170 and 1360; ACT 22, 26 and 31, also with a school leaving certificate.
  • How to apply: if your senior schooling is from outside Australia, apply directly to UQ or through an approved UQ agent.

4. Students at Canadian high schools

  • British Columbia: the average of English 12 (or English Studies 12) plus your best three 4-credit Grade 12 courses. For Semester 1 2027, Business Management needs 61.25, Commerce 73.33 and Advanced Business 84.44. For maths, Commerce and Advanced Business accept Mathematics or Calculus 12; Business Management also accepts Pre-Calculus 12 and similar courses.
  • Ontario: the average of your best six U or U/M courses, with the same thresholds of 61.25, 73.33 and 84.44. Mathematical Methods corresponds to courses such as Calculus & Vectors. The OSSD must come from a school listed by the Ontario Ministry of Education or an authorised international school.
  • Alberta, Manitoba and other provinces: mostly the average of five Grade 12 courses, with the same thresholds; Saskatchewan needs 62.5 for Business Management.
  • International students at Canadian high schools also apply directly to UQ.

5. English requirements

  • Business Management and Commerce: IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in each band; TOEFL iBT 87 (listening 19, reading 19, writing 21, speaking 19); PTE Academic 64 with at least 60 in all sub-bands.
  • Advanced Business (Honours): higher, at IELTS 7.0 with 6.5 in each band; TOEFL iBT 100 (listening 21, reading 21, writing 24, speaking 21); PTE Academic 72 with at least 64 in all sub-bands.
  • OET is not accepted, and there are other ways to meet the requirement, such as previous study.

6. Transfer students

  • In Semester 1 2026, students with higher education study made up 8.5% of the Business Management intake, 8.0% of Commerce and 13.0% of Advanced Business.
  • UQ says that if you have completed two years of full-time bachelor-level study or higher, your selection rank is based on that study only.
  • Credit for previous study is assessed by UQ when you apply.

7. Timeline for 2027 entry

  • Start dates: Semester 1 on 22 February 2027; Semester 2 on 26 July 2027.
  • Deadlines for direct applications to UQ: 30 November of the previous year (30 November 2026) for Semester 1, and 31 May of the year of commencement (31 May 2027) for Semester 2.
  • Through QTAC: international students studying Year 12 or the IB in Australia apply via QTAC and follow its closing dates.
  • Visa processing times vary, so apply and accept your offer as early as possible.

8. Fees and scholarships

  • International tuition for 2027 (per year, 16 units): about AUD 56,800 for Business Management and Commerce, and about AUD 60,952 for Advanced Business (Honours). Fees are reviewed annually and may increase.
  • UQ International Excellence Scholarship: a 25% tuition reduction. There is no separate application; you are assessed automatically when you apply, competing with other offer holders for the same commencement semester. Eligible programs are listed in the terms and conditions.
  • Business Scholarship for Chinese Students: AUD 1,000 for international students who are citizens of the People’s Republic of China, enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program approved by UQ Business School. It requires an application and is shown as opening soon.
