2026-10-18 · Application guides

The University of Wollongong’s Business School is AACSB-accredited, and its main undergraduate business degree is the three-year Bachelor of Business, with 12 majors including accountancy, finance, marketing and management. Students from China can apply with the Gaokao: the Bachelor of Business needs 60% of the total, and 75% is automatically considered for a 30% tuition reduction. The IELTS requirement is 6.0 overall. The 2027 Autumn session starts on 1 March, and international tuition is AUD 20,856 per session. Based on UOW’s official information, this guide covers entry, English, transfer and a checklist.

The University of Wollongong (UOW) is in Wollongong, about 90 minutes south of Sydney. Its Business School is accredited by AACSB, which UOW says only around 6% of business schools worldwide have achieved. The main undergraduate business degree is the Bachelor of Business. Here is what you need to know for 2027 entry, based on UOW’s official information, for students at high schools in China, students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver students), and transfer students.

1. The degree and its majors

  • Bachelor of Business: three years, UOW code 3090, CRICOS 102881B, taught to international students at the Wollongong campus. You explore the core business disciplines in first year before choosing a major, and in final year you complete an interdisciplinary capstone project set by an external organisation.
  • 12 majors: Accountancy, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Sport Marketing and Management, Supply Chain Management, and Sustainable Business.
  • Double degrees and integrated master’s: 10 double degrees, including with law, psychological science, communication and media, and engineering. The degree can also form the first three years of a UOW Integrated Master’s, completing a bachelor’s and master’s in four years.
  • Related degrees: the Bachelor of Economics and Finance has a higher entry band (see below), and there is also a Bachelor of Professional Accounting.

2. Admissions profile

  • The Australian entry score (ATAR-SR) for the Bachelor of Business is 70.
  • The 2025 intake was 663 students, including 245 international students (37%) and 143 (22%) with higher education study.
  • Among ATAR-based offers, the lowest selection rank was 65.05 and the median 77.65.

3. Students at high schools in China

UOW groups its bachelor degrees into three bands. The Bachelor of Business is in Group 1, Economics and Finance in Group 2, and degrees such as Laws and Psychology (Honours) in Group 3. Results that meet the Group 3 level are automatically considered for the University Excellence Scholarship.

  • Gaokao: 60% for Group 1, 70% for Group 2 and 75% for Group 3.
  • Senior High School Year 3 results: 80% for Group 1, 85% for Group 2 and 90% for Group 3.
  • A-levels: the aggregate of 3 subjects (out of 18, with A*=6, A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1): 8 for Group 1, 11 for Group 2 and 13 for Group 3.
  • IB Diploma: 25 for Group 1, 28 for Group 2 and 32 for Group 3.
  • SAT/ACT, with evidence of high school completion: SAT 1090, 1170 and 1220; ACT 22, 25 and 30.
  • Maple Leaf schools in China (BC curriculum): the Maple Leaf World School Program Grade 12 Diploma is assessed on the best five Grade 12 academic subjects, with 73% for Group 1, plus the program’s two core courses.
  • Foundation and diploma: if you fall short of direct entry, UOW College offers Foundation Studies and diplomas. A Senior High Year 3 average of 60% qualifies for Foundation or the three-session diploma, and 65% for the two-session diploma; with Year 2 only, 70% qualifies for Foundation.
  • How to apply: through an authorised UOW agent, or directly through UOW Apply.

4. Students at Canadian high schools

  • UOW’s international entry requirements page covers qualifications from more than 40 countries, but its Americas section lists only Brazil, Mexico and the USA, so UOW does not publish equivalents for Canadian provincial diplomas. BC and other Canadian students should contact the UOW Future Students team before applying, or submit an application for assessment.
  • If you have SAT or ACT scores, the US standard is a useful reference: the Bachelor of Business needs SAT 1090 or ACT 22, with evidence of high school completion.
  • The IB Diploma and A-level standards apply worldwide; see the section above.

5. English requirements

  • IELTS Academic: 6.0 overall, with reading 6.0, writing 6.0, listening 5.0 and speaking 5.0.
  • UOW also accepts TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency, LanguageCert Academic and Duolingo (coursework only), with course scores on the course page. IELTS Online, TOEFL iBT Home Edition and PTE Academic Online are not accepted.
  • Tests must be taken within two years of your course start date. Passing UOW College’s English for Tertiary Studies is another route.

6. Transfer students

  • Entry on university results: associate or bachelor study is assessed once you have completed at least 0.5 FTE (half a full-time year). Group 1 degrees need 50%, Group 2 62% and Group 3 75%. A completed AQF diploma needs 57% (graded) for Group 1.
  • Credit for prior learning: previous study or relevant work experience can earn course credit, reducing the length and cost of your degree. UOW has credit arrangements with many overseas institutions, including a number of Chinese universities.
  • From UOW’s global campuses: students transferring from UOW Dubai, UOW Malaysia or UOW College Hong Kong to an Australian campus get a 30% offshore transfer discount.

7. Timeline for 2027 entry

  • Start dates: the Autumn session starts on 1 March 2027 and the Spring session on 26 July 2027.
  • Deadlines: the course page refers international students to the international students page, and UOW has not published specific 2027 international dates. UOW recommends applying at least 4 months before your intake to allow time for assessment, accepting your offer and obtaining a visa; late applications are generally still considered.
  • Applications must include all required documents to be complete.

8. Fees and scholarships

  • International tuition for 2027: AUD 20,856 per session at the Wollongong campus, with an indicative course total of AUD 125,136. Fees are reviewed annually, depend on your year of commencement and may increase during your studies.
  • University Excellence Scholarship (UES): for 2027 commencement, a 30% tuition reduction for the minimum duration of an eligible course. There is no application, it is assessed automatically, and places are unlimited; the Bachelor of Business is eligible. On school results you need the Group 3 level, such as Gaokao 75%, a Senior High Year 3 average of 90%, A-level 13 or IB 32. It cannot be combined with other UOW tuition scholarships.
  • UOW also offers other international scholarships that require a separate application; see the international scholarships page.
