How to Apply to Business at Georgia Tech: The Scheller College of Business BS in Business Administration and Its Eight Concentrations, and Requirements and Timeline for Chinese, Canadian High School and Transfer Students

2026-10-18 · Application guides

Georgia Tech’s undergraduate business degree is the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from the Scheller College of Business: 122 credit hours, with one of eight concentrations, such as accounting, finance or marketing, chosen by the end of sophomore year. First-year applicants are not admitted by major, but the intended major on the Common App is an important review factor; current students switching into business must first complete a semester at Georgia Tech. International applicants apply by 2 November (Early Action 2) or 6 January (Regular Decision), and the SAT or ACT is required. The 2027-28 on-campus estimate for international students is about $56,194. Transfer applicants to Scheller need at least a 3.0 GPA. Based on Georgia Tech’s official information, this guide covers the program, deadlines, testing, costs, transfer and a checklist.

At the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), undergraduate business is taught by the Scheller College of Business, and the degree is the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA). Here is what you need to know for fall 2027 entry, based on Georgia Tech’s official information, for students at high schools in China, students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver students), and transfer students.

1. Choosing business on the application

  • No admission by major, but an intended major counts: first-year applicants do not apply to a specific major or college, but select an intended major on the Common App and may add a secondary one. Georgia Tech says major consideration is an important part of review. To study business, choose Business Administration.
  • Residency matters: as a public university, Georgia Tech aims for Georgia students to be the majority and calls residency one of the biggest factors in admit rates. Applications are read in the context of where you attend school.
  • Switching in later: current students can apply to change their major to Business Administration or add it as a secondary major. They must be in good standing and not on academic contract, with at least a 2.3 GPA if they have 60+ credit hours; transfer students must complete one semester at Georgia Tech first. There is one application window per semester (18–29 January 2027 for spring), and meeting the requirements does not guarantee acceptance.

2. What BSBA students study

  • Total: 122 credit hours, including calculus.
  • Eight concentrations: Accounting, Finance, General Management, Information Technology Management, Leadership and Organizational Change, Marketing, Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Strategy and Innovation. Each is 18 credits (six courses) with a C or better; every BSBA student completes one, and only one is officially recognized. Students can choose a concentration by the end of sophomore year.
  • Certificates and minors: students can add certificates, but not in the same area as their concentration.
  • International Plan: open to all business undergraduates, with language study, international coursework and time abroad.
  • BS/MS: BSBA students with a 3.5 GPA who have taken MGT 4050 and CS 1301 or CS 1315 and completed 75 credit hours can apply to the BSMS option, double counting up to 6 credit hours.

3. Deadlines and decisions (2026-27 cycle)

  • Early Action 2 (non-binding): for non-Georgia students, including international applicants. Apply by 2 November, documents by 16 November, decisions in late January.
  • Regular Decision: apply by 6 January, documents by 22 January, decisions in mid-March.
  • Deposits are due 1 May. To be considered for merit scholarships such as Stamps, you must apply Early Action.
  • Application fee: $85 for international applicants, non-refundable.

4. Testing and English

  • SAT or ACT required: all first-year applicants must submit at least one SAT or ACT, which can be self-reported. AP, IB and A-Level results are optional.
  • English: the University System of Georgia lists (minimum / recommended) TOEFL iBT 3.5 / 4.0 (69 / 79 before 2026) and IELTS 6 / 6.5; SAT EBRW 480 or ACT English 17 are among other options.
  • Interview: non-native English speakers may submit an InitialView or Vericant interview.

5. Students at high schools in China

  • Submit transcripts for every year of secondary school; you will also need a grade 9 transcript before enrolling.
  • If your national curriculum has no calculus course, Georgia Tech suggests earning subject certification through the free schoolhouse.world platform, especially in calculus.
  • IB: no minimum score, but competitive applicants mostly have 6s and 7s. A-Level: at least 3 full A-levels completed before enrolling.
  • Georgia Tech publishes no Gaokao policy and no separate admission requirements for Scheller.

6. Students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver)

  • There are no specific requirements for Canadian or BC curricula; applications are read in the context of your school, and the SAT or ACT is required.
  • Applicants who are not US citizens or permanent residents are reviewed as international students.

7. Costs, scholarships and aid

  • 2027-28 first-year estimate for international (Out of Country) students (US$): tuition 34,572 and fees 1,696; with books, housing, meals, personal and travel costs, the on-campus total is 56,194 (59,970 off campus). Scheller’s undergraduate pages do not mention separate business tuition.
  • Dean’s Scholarship: for incoming first-years entering as Business Administration majors; four-year awards of $20,000 to $50,000 in total, about 15–18 a year. Recipients must stay in the major and keep a 3.0 GPA after the first spring and 3.2 each semester after. Georgia Tech does not say whether international students are eligible.
  • Limited aid for international students: they cannot receive federal or state aid, and scholarships through the financial aid office usually exclude them.

8. Transfer students

  • Eligibility: at least 30 semester hours completed and high school finished before the application opens.
  • Deadlines: fall 1 March, with course requirements completed by 30 May; spring 15 September; summer 15 January.
  • GPA: at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for Scheller applicants; the average GPA for the 2025 transfer class was 3.7.
  • Course requirements for Business Administration: all majors need equivalents of English Composition 1101 and 1102 and Calculus I (MATH 1551); Business Administration also needs Calculus II (MATH 1552) and two lab science courses (biology, chemistry, physics, earth and atmospheric or environmental science, with labs), all with a C or better.
  • International transfers: coursework from outside the US needs a course-by-course evaluation with GPA from an evaluation agency. Official credit evaluation happens only after admission.
