How to Apply to Business at the University of Florida Warrington College of Business: Choosing a Business Major on the Common App, GPA Rules for Changing Majors and the Seven Transfer Prerequisites, for Chinese and Canadian High School Students and Transfer Students
The University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business offers four BSBA majors (Finance, Information Systems, Management and Marketing), the Bachelor of Science in Accounting (BSAc) and the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (BABA). First-year applicants apply through the Common App with the UF supplement and choose a major; the SAT, ACT or CLT is required, with Early Decision on 15 October and Early Action on 1 November. Warrington students pay UF’s standard undergraduate tuition. External transfers need a 3.0 college GPA and a 3.5 GPA across seven prerequisites, may apply to one major only, and the fall deadline is 1 May. Based on UF’s official information, this guide covers admission, majors, deadlines, costs, transfer and a checklist.
At the University of Florida (UF), undergraduate business is taught by the Warrington College of Business: the Heavener School of Business runs the BSBA majors in Finance, Information Systems, Management and Marketing and the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (BABA, General Studies), while the Fisher School of Accounting runs the Bachelor of Science in Accounting (BSAc). Here is what you need to know for fall 2027 entry, based on UF’s official information, for students at high schools in China, students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver students), and transfer students.
1. How first-year students get into Warrington
- Choose your major when you apply: high school seniors and recent graduates (even with some college credit) apply as freshmen through the Common App plus the UF Supplement and select a major. Admitted students start on campus at Warrington or in the PaCE program (UF Online first, then campus).
- PaCE is by selection, not application. Business PaCE students may only major in General Studies, even after moving to campus.
- Changing business majors: freshman-admitted business students can switch freely between business majors until major coursework begins; not once 50% of major courses are completed or in progress. Information Systems must be chosen before the end of the 5th tracking term.
- Innovation Academy: some admits study in spring and summer, leaving fall for internships or study abroad, and earn an Innovation minor.
2. Majors and courses
- BSBA: Finance, Information Systems, Management and Marketing.
- BSAc: a four-year program in financial and managerial accounting, tax, audit and accounting information systems, with a 3/2 option into the master’s; 601 students were enrolled in fall 2025.
- BABA: a customizable general business degree, also offered online.
- Seven Universal Tracking prerequisites: ECO 2013 macroeconomics, ECO 2023 microeconomics, CGS 2531 problem solving using computers, STA 2023 statistics, MAC 2233 or MAC 2311 calculus, ACG 2021 financial accounting and ACG 2071 managerial accounting. Test credit is not accepted for CGS 2531.
3. Deadlines and application
- Common App only, USD 30 fee. UF’s listed 2026-27 dates:
- Early Decision (binding): 15 October, materials by 22 October, decisions 11 December;
- Early Action (non-binding): 1 November, materials by 8 November, decisions 22 January;
- Regular Decision: 15 January, materials by 22 January, decisions 19 March.
- Testing required: under Florida rules, all freshmen submit the SAT, ACT or CLT; UF superscores.
- Applicants for the UF Honors Program tick the box in the Common App and write a short essay.
4. Students at high schools in China
- Same review: international applicants go through the same process as everyone else.
- Transcripts and evaluation: upload at least four years of transcripts (including courses in progress) with word-for-word certified English translations, plus a NACES course-by-course evaluation with GPA by the materials deadline.
- Gaokao: UF does not say how Gaokao results are used.
- English: the international freshman page lists no English requirement; the international transfer page requires TOEFL iBT 80 or IELTS 6.0. Confirm freshman requirements with Admissions.
- AP, IB and similar credit: can satisfy prerequisite courses but is not counted in the prerequisite GPA; CGS 2531 does not accept test credit.
5. Students at Canadian high schools
- Canadian curricula are treated as non-US: send transcripts and a course-by-course evaluation with GPA, plus the SAT, ACT or CLT.
- English: the international transfer page lists Canada as an exempt country.
- BC curriculum: no BC or other provincial grade requirements are published.
6. Costs and aid
- No business differential: Warrington says in-state, out-of-state and international students all pay UF’s undergraduate tuition rates.
- 2026-27 out-of-state budget (USD, first-time students): tuition and fees 34,620, books 1,220, transport 1,700, living 14,190, personal 2,224 and loan fees 56, for 54,010. Fall 2027 costs are not yet published.
- International aid: students on F1 or J1 visas cannot receive federal aid but may receive private or college scholarships; Warrington offers scholarships to current students with varying criteria.
7. Transfer students
- External transfer (BSBA, BABA):
- at least a 3.0 GPA at each previous institution;
- a 3.5 GPA across the seven prerequisites, counting every attempt (no grade forgiveness);
- no more than one junior/senior-level business course and fewer than 90 transferable credits;
- BSBA: all seven prerequisites done by the end of the spring before fall entry; BABA: five of seven done at application (including financial accounting and calculus) and the other two in progress;
- Finance requires 3.0 or higher in all ACG courses and is very competitive, weighted heavily on GPA.
- One major only: applicants not admitted to their BSBA major may be offered General Studies if eligible, but General Studies students cannot switch to a BSBA later. Transfer students cannot change majors.
- Deadlines: fall 1 May (transcripts and equivalency materials by 15 May; BSBA decisions 20 May); spring 15 September (materials by 1 October). No on-campus summer transfer admission.
- Out-of-state or private institutions: complete the course equivalency process within two weeks of the deadline; without approved equivalencies you are not eligible. Upper-level business courses from elsewhere do not count toward the degree.
- Accounting (BSAc): transfers follow the Fisher School’s junior transfer standards.
- Current UF students: with tracking courses completed, a 3.0 tracking GPA and 2.0 UF GPA; with none completed, a 3.0 UF GPA; and fewer than 130 credits. Transfer students admitted to non-business majors cannot change into Heavener.
- English: waived after a full-time academic year at a university in the US or a country where English is the only official language; otherwise TOEFL iBT 80 or IELTS 6.0.
