Here is what you need to know for fall 2027 entry, based on Rutgers’ official information, for students at high schools in China, students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver students), and transfer students.

1. How high school students get into RBS

  • Apply directly to RBS: Rutgers–New Brunswick admits by school, so high school seniors choose Rutgers Business School–New Brunswick on the Rutgers application. RBS says offers go to high-achieving high school students.
  • High school subjects: 4 years of English, 2 years of one foreign language, 3 years of maths (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II), 2 years of science and 5 other academic courses, 16 in total; precalculus is recommended but not required.
  • After entry: direct admits complete the foundational core courses in their first semesters and must maintain minimum GPAs to stay in good standing.
  • Admissions data:
    • 2025 first-year class: RBS–New Brunswick received 25,257 applications and enrolled 1,100;
    • middle 50% of fall 2026 regular admits: SAT 1390–1510 (Math 710–790, ERW 670–740), ACT 31–34, high school GPA 3.8–4.2, class rank percentile 77–95.
  • Maximum Admission Consideration: applicants not admitted to their chosen school are automatically considered for other Rutgers schools or campuses.

  • Six majors: Accounting and Information Systems (formerly Accounting), Business Analytics and Information Technology, Finance, Leadership and Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management.
  • Concentrations: Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Global Business, Leadership Skills, Management Information Systems, Real Estate and Sales.

    • Foundational Core (formerly “pre-business”): Computer Applications for Business, micro- and macroeconomics, Calculus I and Introductory Statistics for Business;
    • Business Core, 39 credits: financial and managerial accounting, career courses, business law or ethics, financial management, management, management skills, strategy, MIS, statistical methods, operations, marketing and supply chain;
    • then major requirements and electives.
  • At least 45 business credits must be taken at RBS–New Brunswick, with C or better in core and required major courses; Finance and Accounting require a B or better in the introductory major course to stay in the major.
  • AP and IB: most AP scores of 4 or 5 earn credit; IB credit generally requires Higher Level scores of 5, 6 or 7.

3. Deadlines and application (New Brunswick)

  • Early Action (non-binding): 1 November 2026, decisions by 31 January 2027.
  • Regular Decision: 1 December 2026, decisions by 28 February 2027; confirm by 1 May.

  • Test-optional; recommendation letters are not used.

4. Students at high schools in China

  • English scores required (New Brunswick minimums): TOEFL 79 for tests on or before 21 January 2026, or 4.5 on the new scale from 22 January; IELTS 6.5, Duolingo 115, PTE 53; or SAT ERW 550 or ACT English 21.
  • Transcripts: self-report courses, grades, GPA and rank in STARS, with official documents on enrollment and professional translations where needed.
  • Gaokao: Undergraduate Admissions publishes no Gaokao policy.
  • RBS China direct recruitment: a Chinese-language RBS page describes a direct recruitment program for students at high schools in mainland China: an average of 90 or above in all high school subjects (for New Brunswick), TOEFL 79 or IELTS 6.5, and a successful interview with RBS international admissions staff, after which no SAT is required; students start in late August. Registration forms go to DirectRecruit@business.rutgers.edu. The page is undated, so confirm by email that the program is still running.

5. Students at Canadian high schools

  • Students at English-medium schools can email to request an English test waiver.

7. Transfer students

  • From outside Rutgers:
    • fall only, applying directly to RBS for fall 2027;
    • by the end of spring 2027, complete a 4-credit equivalent of Rutgers 01:640:115 pre-calculus and two of the four foundational business courses (micro, macro, Calculus I, Introductory Statistics for Business);
    • a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0; these are minimums only, admission is competitive, and summer 2027 coursework is not reviewed;
    • a business major can be declared only once all eligibility requirements are met.
  • From other Rutgers schools: students with 24 Rutgers credits by the end of spring may submit a school-to-school transfer application between 1 February and 30 April, for fall only, with decisions on 30 June; the credit cap is 90. Transfers enter the second or third year depending on courses and GPA. Foundational courses failed elsewhere must be repeated at Rutgers.
  • Conflicting pages: the transfer eligibility page still refers to fall 2026 (courses done by the end of spring 2026) and says the GPA needed varies by cycle, while the external transfer page refers to fall 2027 and states a 3.0 minimum. Both are given here; follow the latest page when you apply. The high school page also mentions “4” foundational core courses, while the curriculum page lists 5 (adding Computer Applications for Business).
  • Credit: up to 60 credits from New Jersey community colleges; once at RBS, community college credits no longer transfer. In fall 2025, RBS–New Brunswick received 2,999 transfer applications and enrolled 474; the admissions profile lists a middle-50% cumulative college GPA of 3.5–3.9 for fall 2026 RBS admits.
