How to Apply to Undergraduate Business at Case Western Reserve’s Weatherhead School of Management: Single-Door Admission and Declaring Accounting, Finance and Other Majors After Entry, with Requirements and Timeline for Chinese, Canadian High School and Transfer Students
Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) uses single-door undergraduate admission, so you do not apply separately to the Weatherhead School of Management; all students declare a major in their second semester (by 1 March for fall entrants). Weatherhead’s majors include Accounting, Business Information Technology, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing and a customizable Management major, with combined bachelor’s/master’s options. CWRU’s Early Action and Early Decision I deadlines are 1 November; testing is optional, and English minimums include IELTS 7 or Duolingo 115. The 2026-27 on-campus cost is about $95,704, and international students can apply for financial aid. Based on CWRU’s official information, this guide covers admission, majors, deadlines, costs and transfer rules.
At Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), undergraduate business is taught by the Weatherhead School of Management. Here is what you need to know for fall 2027 entry, based on CWRU’s official information, for students at high schools in China, students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver), and transfer students.
1. Getting into Weatherhead: single-door admission
- Single-door admission: Weatherhead’s admission page says CWRU uses a single-door undergraduate admission policy. You apply to CWRU through the Office of Undergraduate Admission, with no separate business school application, and can take classes across the university.
- Declaring a major: all students declare in their second semester, by 1 March for fall entrants and 1 October for spring entrants. Course requirements for each business major are in the General Bulletin; CWRU publishes no grade threshold for declaring a business major.
- Visits: besides undergraduate admission visits, you can email to arrange a 30-minute Weatherhead-focused meeting, in person or virtually.
2. Majors and combined degrees
- Majors: Accounting (BS), Business Information Technology, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing, and a customizable Management major (standalone or as a second major). CWRU marks Business Information Technology and others as STEM-designated.
- Business Management: required courses in economics, accounting, statistics, communication, leadership, marketing, and operations research and supply chain management, plus a concentration such as healthcare management, innovation and entrepreneurship, organizational leadership or supply chain management.
- Accounting: a BS and a minor; the BS/Master of Accountancy can be completed in as little as four years.
- Combined bachelor’s/master’s: also with the Master of Finance, Master of Business Analytics and Intelligence and Master of Supply Chain Management, generally in five years or fewer; CWRU says the finance combination can take as little as four years.
- Minors: 15-credit minors such as Finance and FinTech.
3. Deadlines for applying to CWRU
- Early Action: due 1 November, decisions expected 19 December.
- Early Decision I (binding): due 1 November, decisions expected 5 December.
- Early Decision II: due 15 January, decisions expected 6 February.
- Regular Decision: due 15 January, decisions expected 20 March.

4. Students at high schools in China
- Test optional: SAT or ACT is your choice; no major or scholarship requires scores.
- English minimums: IELTS 7; TOEFL 4.5 for tests from 21 January 2026, or 90 iBT before; Duolingo 115; PTE 61. Two years at an English-medium school, SAT EBRW 630+ or ACT English 26+ waive the requirement.
- Gaokao: CWRU publishes no Gaokao policy; documents not in English need translations.
5. Students at Canadian high schools
- Same process and deadlines; CWRU publishes no Canada- or BC-specific grade requirements.
- Two years at an English-medium school waive the English requirement.
6. Costs, aid and scholarships
- 2026-27 on-campus cost: tuition $71,410, plus housing, food, fees, books and personal costs, for a total of about $95,704, plus up to $2,000 for travel. CWRU mentions no separate business fee.
- International students can apply for aid: non-US residents submit only the CSS Profile, and aid decisions arrive with admission decisions.
- Scholarships: all first-year applicants are considered for merit scholarships; separate competitions need extra materials by 15 February.
7. Transfer students
- Deadlines: fall Early Plan 15 March, Regular Plan 1 July; spring 15 November.
- Credit: courses with a C or better may transfer; at least 60 credits must be earned at CWRU.
- Business: transfers also apply through undergraduate admission and declare a Weatherhead major after entry; how outside business courses count toward a major is decided under the Bulletin and by the department, and CWRU does not list this separately.
