How to Apply to Undergraduate Business at Villanova School of Business: Apply Directly to VSB and Declare a Major in Sophomore Year, with Requirements and Timeline for Chinese, Canadian High School and Transfer Students
Villanova School of Business (VSB) awards the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). Applicants apply directly to VSB and choose a major such as accounting, finance or marketing in sophomore year. Admissions requires four years of high school math, including calculus if your school offers it. Early Action and Early Decision I close on 1 November, and Early Decision II and Regular Decision on 15 January; testing is optional but international students must submit English scores. Internal transfer from Villanova’s other colleges is highly competitive: last year’s admits averaged a 3.95 GPA and fewer than 25% of applicants were admitted. The 2026-27 resident cost of attendance is about $96,886. Based on Villanova’s official information, this guide covers admission, majors, costs and transfer rules.
Villanova University, outside Philadelphia, teaches undergraduate business through the Villanova School of Business (VSB), which awards the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). Here is what you need to know for fall 2027 entry, based on Villanova’s official information, for students at high schools in China, students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver), and transfer students.
1. Apply directly to VSB
- Apply to the school: Villanova requires you to choose a college or major, with no undecided option. Business applicants apply generally to VSB and choose one or two majors in sophomore year.
- High school math: VSB requires four years of high school math, including calculus if your school offers it. Most successful applicants take at least one year of calculus (beyond precalculus) before the end of grade 12, and if you must choose, Villanova advises calculus over statistics (even AP Statistics).
- Business from year one: VSB students start the business core in their first year and continue it in sophomore year; the curriculum pairs a liberal arts core with data and analytics, communication, teamwork and responsible decision-making.
2. Majors and concentrations
- Majors: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing and Real Estate, each requiring six courses beyond the business core.
- Co-majors: International Business; Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (Class of 2029 onward); Business Analytics (up to the Class of 2028).
- Minors: including Business Law and Corporate Governance, Consulting, Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, each three or four courses.
- Concentrations: Applied Quantitative Finance (Finance), Consulting (Management), Business Development and Digital Marketing (Marketing), and International, Public Policy and Quantitative Business (Economics), open only to students in the related major.
3. Deadlines and how to apply
- Early Action (non-binding): 1 November, decisions by 20 January.
- Early Decision I (binding): 1 November, decisions by 1 December.
- Early Decision II (binding): 15 January, decisions by 15 February.
- Regular Decision: 15 January, decisions by 1 April.
- Common App or Coalition App, $80 fee, one teacher recommendation; no admission interviews.
- Test optional for fall 2027 entry; submitted scores are superscored.
4. Students at high schools in China
- English is required: Cambridge English, Duolingo, IELTS, PTE or TOEFL iBT; no minimum scores are published.
- Records: transcripts from the equivalent of middle school through high school with a grading key, plus official or predicted national exam results. Villanova does not describe how the Gaokao is used.
- Math: aim to take calculus in high school, as VSB expects.
- A-levels, AP and IB: VSB publishes A-level, AP and IB credit tables by class year; its Clay Center applies them after you enrol.
- Finances: submit the Certification of Finances and a recent bank statement, or the application is incomplete; admission for international students is need-aware.
5. Students at Canadian high schools
- The same deadlines and materials apply; Villanova publishes no Canada- or BC-specific requirements.
- More than three consecutive years at an English-medium secondary school can waive the English test.
- Students with foreign citizenship are reviewed as international applicants, including need-aware admission.
6. Costs and aid
- 2026-27 estimated cost (US$): tuition 72,990 (the same rate as Villanova’s other undergraduate colleges), student services fee 1,024, housing 10,314, meals 9,040, plus books, supplies, personal and transportation costs, for a resident total of about 96,886. 2027-28 costs are not yet published.
- Need-based aid for international students: limited; file the CSS Profile and supporting documents by 1 November (ED I/EA) or 15 January (ED II/RD).
- Scholarships: international applicants may be nominated for the Presidential Scholarship, 25 awards a year covering tuition, housing, meals and more.
7. Transfer students
- External transfer: VSB considers transfer applications for all its majors (Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing and Real Estate). Fall entry closes 15 March; spring entry closes 15 October and is very limited. A college GPA of at least 3.00 is strongly recommended, and up to 60 credits typically transfer. Transfers apply to a specific major and cannot change college or major after entry.
- Internal transfer: only first-year students in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Engineering or Nursing may apply, in the spring of their first year; the window is 15 January to 15 March 2027, with decisions after spring grades in May. Competitive applicants have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.9 and at least one quantitative course at Villanova with an A- or better (AP credit excluded); last year’s admits averaged 3.95 and fewer than 25% of applicants were admitted. At least one quantitative course is required, ideally Calculus I or Business Statistics.
- Students who transferred into Villanova from another institution cannot apply for internal transfer to VSB, so external transfers who want business should apply to VSB directly.
- Students not admitted can consider VSB’s Summer Business Institute or the Academic-Year Business Minor in sophomore fall, which is equally competitive.
- Aid: Villanova offers no merit or need-based aid to international transfer students.
