Babson College offers only undergraduate business: every student earns a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, takes business courses from the first semester, and may add up to two concentrations. Applicants must have taken at least precalculus, and nearly 90% of recent admits had taken calculus or higher. Early Decision I and Early Action close on 1 November, and Early Decision II and Regular Decision on 4 January. Testing is optional, but non-native English speakers must submit an English test. The admit rate for the Class of 2029 was 16%. International students can apply for the full-tuition Global Scholars program, and the 2026-27 cost of attendance is about $86,966. Based on Babson’s official information, this guide covers the curriculum, deadlines, costs, scholarships and transfer rules.
Babson College in Wellesley, near Boston, is a business-only undergraduate college: every undergraduate earns a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a strong focus on entrepreneurship. Here is what you need to know for fall 2027 entry, based on Babson’s official information, for students at high schools in China, students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver), and transfer students.
1. Degree and curriculum
- A business student from day one: applying to Babson means applying to business; there is no second application to a business school.
- A real venture in year one: the first-year core course Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME) has student teams create, launch and manage a business, alongside business core courses such as business analytics and operations information management, and a liberal arts and sciences core.
- Concentrations: there are no majors; you may choose up to two of 26 concentrations, each four courses and listed on your transcript. Concentrations are optional, and about 75% of students choose one in junior or senior year. Options include Accounting, Applied AI, Business Analytics, Computational and Mathematical Finance, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing, Real Estate, Strategy and Consulting, and Technology Entrepreneurship.
- Graduation: 128 credits.
- Class of 2029: 692 students, 26% international; 10,552 applications and a 16% admit rate; middle-50% SAT 1450–1530 and ACT 32–34 for admitted students.
2. Deadlines and materials
- Early Decision I (binding): 1 November, decisions by mid-December, deposit by 15 January.
- Early Action (non-binding): 1 November, decisions by mid-January, reply by 1 May.
- Early Decision II (binding): 4 January, decisions by mid-February, deposit by 1 March.
- Regular Decision: 4 January, decisions by mid-March.
- Materials: the Common App, a $75 fee, your high school transcript (with first-quarter or predicted senior grades), the school report, one counselor and one teacher recommendation, the Common App personal statement and two Babson supplemental essays.
- January admission: about 100 first-year students start in January each year; note your interest in the application, with no separate deadline. Babson Begin is a separate program with a first semester in London or Rome.
3. High school courses and testing
- Math: Babson requires at least precalculus, and math beyond it better demonstrates readiness; nearly 90% of last year’s admits were enrolled in calculus or above.
- Suggested courses: four to five courses a year across English, mathematics, history, laboratory science and a foreign language, at the most rigorous level available.
- Test optional for first-year and transfer applicants; self-reported scores are accepted and superscored. Students who do not submit scores are not penalized, and all first-year applicants are reviewed for merit scholarships.
4. Students at high schools in China
- English: non-native speakers submit official TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo or Cambridge English (C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency or C1 Business Higher) results at the time of application; no minimum scores are published, and waivers are possible for highly proficient students.
- Process: international applicants follow the same process as domestic applicants, plus the English test. Babson publishes no Gaokao policy.
- Credit: AP scores of 4 or 5 and IB Higher Level scores of 5 or above can earn credit, up to 16 credits; Babson does not accept any A-level exam results for credit.
5. Students at Canadian high schools
- The same deadlines and materials apply; Babson publishes no Canada- or BC-specific requirements.
- Canadian Scholarship: Canadian citizens who apply for aid with the CSS Profile are considered for this need-based award, with amounts based on need.
6. Costs and scholarships
- 2026-27 estimated cost (US$): tuition 60,288 (including a Babson-issued laptop), housing 14,984, food 8,244, books 1,300 and personal 2,100, for a total of about 86,966. 2027-28 costs are not yet published.
- Global Scholars Program: need-based aid for international students; scholars receive four-year full-tuition scholarships, with extra grants for housing, books, insurance and travel for those with greater need. You must apply through Early Decision or Regular Decision and file the CSS Profile by 15 November (ED) or 1 February (RD). Admission for international aid applicants is need-aware.
- Merit scholarships: international applicants are considered automatically for the Presidential Scholarship (four-year half tuition, renewable with a 3.0 GPA) and the Women’s Leadership Scholarship (four-year quarter tuition); the Weissman Scholarship (four-year full tuition) has a separate application. Some awards require an extra essay, due 1 December 2026 for ED I and EA and 1 February 2027 for ED II and RD.
