Kennesaw State University’s B.S. in Computer Science is offered by the College of Computing and Software Engineering: 120 credit hours, taught mainly on the Marietta campus. First-year applicants must submit SAT or ACT scores, and from fall 2027 the minimum high school GPA is 3.0. Apply through the Common App ($40 fee). For fall 2027, international applicants have a priority deadline of November 2, 2026 and a regular deadline of July 1, 2027, with IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 79. In 2026-2027, an international undergraduate taking 15 credit hours pays $11,739 per semester in tuition and fees. Based on Kennesaw State’s official information, this guide covers the degree, admission, English, transfer, costs and a checklist.

At Kennesaw State University (KSU) in Georgia, undergraduate computer science is offered by the Department of Computer Science in the College of Computing and Software Engineering (CCSE), leading to a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Here is what you need to know, based on KSU’s website, for students at high schools in China (including A-level, IB and AP students), students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver students), and transfer students.

1. The degree and curriculum

  • Basics: 120 credit hours, a four-year face-to-face program based on the Marietta campus, with fall, spring and summer entry.
  • What you study: the degree page emphasizes computer systems architecture, algorithms, software development, artificial intelligence and data science. Core areas include programming, computer architecture, operating systems, networking, information assurance and security, big data, machine learning, data mining, cloud computing, database systems and software engineering, and many major courses include mathematics.
  • Course list: the full list of courses and credits is in the KSU catalog (catalog.kennesaw.edu), which this guide did not read; check the catalog for the current requirements.
  • Certificate and internships: CS majors can add a certificate in Robotics Programming. The department offers day and evening classes and an active co-op and internship program with organizations such as IBM, Coca-Cola and the CDC.
  • Double Owl Pathways: you can combine the B.S. with an M.S. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology or Software Engineering. For the CS B.S./M.S. you need a 3.25 GPA in KSU coursework, 60 hours toward the bachelor’s, 30 hours in residence at KSU and recommendations from two KSU faculty; apply early in your junior year.

2. Admission and changing major

  • Separate thresholds: the pages read do not say whether computer science has its own cap or cut-off. This is not published. First-year applicants are reviewed against university-wide standards, with rolling decisions.
  • Changing into CS: the CCSE advising FAQ says you declare or change your major in Owl Express, and that some programs have particular requirements for admission to the major, so you should always talk to an advisor first. Whether CS has extra conditions is not published; ask CCSE advising.
  • Entering class profile (university-wide): average high school GPA 3.5, average SAT 1111.3, average ACT 22.4.

3. First-year requirements

  • GPA: a minimum of 3.0 from fall 2027; spring and summer 2027 applicants are admitted under the current 2.5 minimum. KSU recalculates your GPA from the 17 units of the Required High School Curriculum (RHSC).
  • High school courses: 4 English, 4 math, 4 science, 3 social science, and 2 units of the same foreign language (or 2 of American Sign Language or 2 of USG-approved computer science).
  • Tests are required: KSU is not test-optional. Minimums are SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 500 and Math 490, or ACT English or Reading 18 and Math 18; from fall 2027 the CLT is also accepted (Verbal 39, Math 16). KSU takes your highest section scores within each test but does not combine SAT and ACT.

4. How and when to apply

  • Application: high school students, and graduates of less than five years with fewer than 30 college credit hours, use the Common App. The fee is $40.
  • International deadlines (admissions page): spring 2027, application November 16, 2026 and documents December 1; summer 2027, May 3, 2027 for both; fall 2027 priority, application November 2, 2026 and documents November 16; fall 2027 regular, July 1, 2027 for both.
  • The pages differ: the CCSE international page lists bachelor’s deadlines of December 1 for spring, April 25 for summer and July 1 for fall. Its summer date differs from the admissions page’s May 3, so aim for the earlier date.
  • Why apply by the priority deadline: you get early access to on-campus housing and orientation sign-ups.

5. Students at high schools in China

  • Documents: foreign transcripts must be evaluated in English by a NACES or AICE member; your high school transcript needs a document-by-document evaluation that includes your GPA, and the GPA must appear on the evaluation. You also send SAT or ACT scores and proof of English.
  • Gaokao: KSU does not say whether Gaokao results are used or what score is needed. This is not published; check with international admissions.
  • English minimums: TOEFL iBT 79 (tests before January 21, 2026) or 4 on the new 1–6 scale; IELTS 6.0 (IELTS Academic Online 6.5); Duolingo 115 (Writing section); PTE Academic 58; Cambridge CAE 177 or CPE 180. SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 500 or ACT English or Reading 18 also meet the requirement.
  • A-level: a B or better in a UK GCE A-level English exam, or in Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE/O-Level English, meets the English requirement. No A-level or IB admission scores are published. AP scores must be sent electronically by College Board; check the catalog for credit rules.
  • Conditional admission: if you have not met the English requirement, you can enroll in KSU’s Intensive English Program (IEP) and apply for conditional admission; full admission is reviewed after you complete the highest IEP level.

6. Students at Canadian high schools (including BC and Vancouver)

  • Applicant type: if you are not a U.S. citizen and were educated outside the U.S., you apply as an international student, with the international requirements and deadlines above.
  • English: KSU’s English proficiency chart has no country-based exemptions and does not say whether Canadian students are exempt. The chart’s SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 500 or ACT English or Reading 18 can also be used; confirm with Admissions.
  • Grades: no grade requirements are published for Canadian or BC curricula. Prepare to the course and GPA requirements above.

7. Transfer students

  • Which application: with 30 semester (or 50 quarter) hours of transferable credit you apply as a transfer student; with fewer, you apply as a transfer freshman and send high school records and SAT/ACT scores.
  • Requirements: a 2.0 college GPA as recalculated by KSU and good standing at your previous school. International college transcripts need a course-by-course evaluation with GPA showing at least 30 semester hours of U.S. university-level work. Transfer applicants are encouraged to complete courses equivalent to ENGL 1101 and MATH 1101 with a C or better.
  • Deadlines (transfer page): spring 2027, application December 1 and documents December 11; summer, May 3; fall 2027, July 16. International transfer applicants follow the international deadlines above.
  • Profile: transfer students average a 3.15 GPA and 51 transfer hours, and computer science is one of the top three transfer majors.

8. Costs and scholarships

  • 2026-2027 tuition for international undergraduates: $743 per credit hour. At 15 hours per semester, tuition is $11,145 plus $594 in student fees, for $11,739 per semester (the rate table goes up to 15 hours).
  • Living costs: KSU’s 2026-2027 cost of attendance (fall and spring) lists housing $9,332, food $5,016 and books and supplies $1,500.
  • Flight to Excellence Scholarship: for out-of-state and international students, it is an out-of-state tuition waiver, so you pay in-state tuition plus all fees. Admitted students are considered automatically with no separate application. First-year students need a KSU-calculated high school GPA of 3.5 and an SAT of 1050, ACT of 20 or CLT of 68; transfers need 30 transferable hours and a 3.3 transfer GPA. Meeting the minimums does not guarantee a waiver. It lasts up to eight semesters and renews with a 2.5 GPA and 12 hours each fall and spring.
  • Scholarship priority dates: fall 2027 freshmen, November 2, 2026; spring 2027, November 16, 2026. For transfers the page says April 1, 2026; confirm with Admissions.
