2027 AP exam schedule, and the November deadline that costs $40

Full two-week subject timetable for May 2027, the clashes to check before choosing courses, and the ordering deadline that carries a fee either way.

The 2027 AP exams run over the first two full weeks of May: 3–7 May and 10–14 May 2027, with late testing from 17 to 21 May. Exams are administered in schools, and each subject has a fixed slot that cannot be moved for convenience.

Watch for collisions before choosing courses

Two exams in the same session cannot both be sat on the day; the second goes to late testing. Calculus AB and BC share Monday morning, as do the two Physics C papers on the Wednesday afternoon of week one. A student taking Physics 1 and Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism has both in the same slot. Checking the schedule in the autumn, while a timetable can still change, costs nothing.

The deadline that costs money is in November

Exams are ordered through the school, not by the family, and the ordering deadline is 13 November. Two fees hang off it:

  • Late order fee — $40 per exam for anything ordered between 14 November and 12 March for a full-year or first-semester course.
  • Unused or cancelled exam — $40 per exam if a student decides after 13 November not to sit one that was ordered. This applies even to students with a College Board fee reduction.

So the practical rule is to tell the AP coordinator early, in either direction. For 2026–27 the unused-exam fee is waived for the two newly launched courses, AP Business with Personal Finance and AP Cybersecurity.

What an exam costs

WherePer exam
US, US territories, Canada, DoDEA schools$99
Outside the US$129

Schools may add their own charge for proctoring and administration, so the figure on a school invoice can be higher than College Board's. Late testing usually carries no extra College Board fee, but it is worth asking the coordinator whether the school charges one.
