A-Level Prep in Vancouver & Richmond

A Level A*–E · AS Level A–E, with no A*

Two years, one grade per subject

A-Level is graded subject by subject from A* to E, with exam series in June and November. Which subjects a student takes, and whether they stage AS first, shapes every offer they can hold.

Our Approach

Why choose our A-Level program

01

Three ways through it

Take the AS Level alone, which is half the content of an A Level. Or stage it: AS in one series and the full A Level later, with AS marks carried forward twice within 13 months. Or sit all the A Level papers in one session at the end. The staged route is not available in every subject.

02

Each subject stands alone

There is no aggregate score. A student holds a separate grade in each subject, which is why offers are written as grade combinations — AAB, A*AA — and why one weak subject cannot be averaged away.

03

No A* at AS

AS Level runs from A to E. A student aiming for an A* has to take the full A Level; the AS grade cannot reach it.

04

A missed E can still yield something

A candidate who falls short of grade E at A Level may be awarded a compensatory AS Level, which is not nothing on an application but is not what the offer asked for either.

Questions

A-Level preparation — FAQ

Which exam board are these details for?

Cambridge International. A-Level is also awarded by Pearson Edexcel, AQA and OCR, whose series and some grading details differ — check which board your school enters you with.

What if I miss grade E?

A candidate who does not reach E at A Level may be awarded a compensatory AS Level. It is not nothing, but it is not what the offer asked for either.

How do universities read A-Level against IB?

Both are accepted worldwide. A-Level is narrower and deeper — typically three or four subjects — while the IB requires six plus the core. Offers are set separately for each.
